April 14, 2024

We were so excited to see and meet so many of you at our Spring Conference last month. We were able to dine and discuss practices with our mathematics education peers, learn from Graham Fletcher, provide election results, and give out awards to recognize the work of our New Hampshire teachers. We want to congratulate our award recipients and our new board members!

That said, our work to provide enriching experiences for our members never ends! We have a variety of upcoming opportunities available.

The ATMNE Regional Conference is getting ever-closer, and we are hard at work planning for the event. Make sure you have the dates and location saved! The conference will take place at the Sheraton Hotel in Nashua, NH, and feature keynotes from Pamela Seda, Ken Williams, Rachel Lambert, and Latrenda Knighten. The event is Thursday, October 24, and Friday, October 25, 2024. Exhibitor registration is now open.

This summer, the Regional Educational Laboratory Northeast & Islands in partnership with the Connecticut State Department of Education is offering Visual Access to Mathematics Professional Learning, an opportunity for grades 6 and 7 mathematics educators. This is a free workshop series wherein teachers will learn evidence-based strategies that they can integrate with their current mathematics curriculum to benefit English learners/multilingual learners and all students. It begins with a summer institute August 13th-15th and continues throughout the upcoming school year with online sessions. You could earn a $850 stipend and graduate credits, among other benefits of this opportunity. Visit this link to learn more or to register. There is an information session Monday, April 15th.

Mount Holyoke is offering two scholarships to members of NHTM for their Masters of Arts in Teaching Mathematics program. The Critical Impact Scholarship (up to $5,000) is for active association members. An essay of at least 500 words describing the impact that being a member of the association has had on your teaching practice and professional development is required to be considered. The Distinguished Teacher Scholarship (up to $10,000) is for association members who volunteer on boards or volunteer frequently in other capacities. Please be sure to include examples of your own service to these organizations in your 500-word essay. There are information sessions about the program on April 18th, April 24th, and May 2nd at 4:00pm, and another session May 14th at 7:00pm. Schedule a meeting with Naomi Dupre-Edelman, Assistant Director, ndupre@mtholyoke.edu for more information.

We look forward to more exciting mathematics education opportunities available soon!
